The Archive Gastone Novelli was founded in 1995 by
the heirs who in that year started to sort and catalog
all materials left by the artist after his death in 1968.
The Archive aims to be a place of research and conservation, acquisition and cataloging of documents relating to the life and works of Novelli.
The study and archiving work, as well as deepening
and knowledge of the artist, are aimed at the preparation of the General Catalogue of his work. The first volume devoted to works on canvas and sculptures was published by the Archive in collaboration with Mart, Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Trento and Rovereto, in May 2011 (SilvanaEditoriale). The Archive is currently preparing the second volume devoted to works on paper, books, ceramics, jewelry and mountings techniques made by the artist.
Related to the collection of documents, the Archive provides the owners of the works of Novelli with an archiving service.
The Archive Gastone Novelli aims to promote and develop cultural activities and initiatives aimed at deepening the understanding and study of Gastone Novelli. For this purpose, it works closely with public and private institutions in the organization of exhibitions and publications relating to the work of the artist.
